Don’t panic if your cell phone gets wet, but immediately take steps so your cell phone will be usable again.
Remove the Cell Phone Battery
No matter what method you use for drying out your cell phone make certain to remove the cell phone battery. Lightly wipe off the cell phone battery with a lint -free towel. Set the cell phone battery aside on a hand towel to allow it to finish drying out.
Wipe off the Cell Phone
Before you do anything, wipe off the cell phone itself. This might seem kind of obvious, but it’s an important step not to forget in your panic when your cell phone meets with a water accident.
Drying a Cell Phone with Uncooked Rice
One method to naturally dry your wet cell phone is with uncooked rice. Wipe the cell phone off. Remove the cell phone battery. Remove any cell phone memory cards. Bury the cell phone in a bowl of uncooked rice for approximately twenty-four hours. Rice is an inexpensive desiccant agent that will dry out the internal parts of the cell phone.
If the battery is really wet, you can wipe off the battery. Put the battery in a separate bowl of uncooked rice.
It doesn’t matter if it’s long grain, white, instant or whatever for the uncooked rice.
Drying a Cell Phone with Rubbing Alcohol and Hair Dryer
Remove the cell phone battery and any memory components from the cell phone. Wipe the cell phone off with a lint free towel.
One method that has been suggested to try with a wet cell phone, is to pour a small amount of rubbing alcohol over the phone. Rubbing alcohol is a drying agent and evaporates.
Get a hair dryer and put it on a low temperature setting. It’s important not to overheat the cell phone. Dry the cell phone for approximately ten to fifteen minutes. Allow the cell phone to sit in a safe spot on a towel and finish drying for about another thirty minutes.
Hair Dryer Method for Drying Your Cell Phone
It’s important not to use this method if your hair dryer doesn’t have a low setting. Wipe the cell phone with a lint free towel. Remove the cell phone battery and memory card. Turn a hair dryer on a low setting. Dry the cell phone for approximately ten to fifteen minutes. Be certain that you don’t use the hair dryer on the battery or the memory card.
